hey im new to macro photography and i have a canon a590 p&s. it has a macro mode that i just tried for the first time yesterday because i didn't know about it until then. i've been thinking about whether or not it'd be worth it to buy the Canon 52mm Close-up Lens 250D. would it be more worth it to buy the lens now or wait until i upgrade to a better camera in the future?

If you are serious about doing macro photography I would think that more sooner than later you are going to want to get a camera that will give you more control (than a p&s offers). So I would say to save you money and get a good camera body as your next purchase. That's my opinion.

I agree -- save your money and purchase a camera body with macro features. The lenses you can buy for P&S cameras are OK, but not always worth the money. BTW, I bought a set of wide angle & macro (with tubes) for my Nikon E5700. I never use the macro lens, as the E5700 does much better without it. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
