Hey, everyone. I'm fairly new to the forum, but I've been doing a lot of reading on this site for a while.
I was doing some macro photography this afternoon after the rain we got. However, there was some wind that kept moving my subjects. How do you more experienced macro photographers deal with that? I was trying to achieve a larger depth of field, so that forced me to use slower shutter speeds, but the combination of camera shake (I know; I ordered a tripod today!) and the breeze kept causing my pictures to turn out blurry. Do any of you have any tips on what I could do to counteract that? Thanks!

Another idea is to change your POV, to match the wind direction. If it's not blowing hard, I sometimes move around to where the wind is blowing head on into the flower, etc. Most of the time, that makes my body act as a wind shield, and provides an image with less movement.
The direction of sunlight will dictate whether this tip is really effective or not.

You could also try the "Bucket Method" as designed by one of our favorite mods, jiminyClickit.

If you are doing macro shots & using a tripod, focus onto your subject and using a remote release or timer hold onto the flower. Even taking bugs shots this shoud work. With the macro lens your hand should not be in the shot.
I do this hand held, steady the plant with the left and shoot with the right. Geoff
