Wow. I love it that I can see his iris so far behind the front of his eye. And the reflections are really neat. Very cool photo.
Well done.

I have been trying to find a reversing ring/adaptor for my Pentax lenses but so far with no success. Last time I asked in a camera shop i may as well have been speaking a foreign language - she had never heard of such a thing. I do have a couple of macro lenses but my macro capability would be much better with a reversing lenses I could use with my zoom lens, just as you did. |

yes, im amazed at the shallow depth of field you get this way. with the kit lens at 18mm you get so close its almost discomforting! the only problem with this technique is that you have no control over the aperture and of course some dust issues....

I played a bit with this as well...an extension tube, and a 18-50mm sigma lens reversed lens. It was so tough to do any kind of focus.
It must have taken you alot of work to get that focus in on a live subject.

This is most easily accomplished with a reversing ring which is just an adaptor with a lens-to-camera mount on one end and a male thread on the other. You screw it in to your filter mount on the front of the lens and then mount the whole thing on the camera like any other lens. You loose your automatic aperture adjustment so exposure control requires a little guesswork or bracketing. Apparently this can also be done without the benefit of a reversing ring but I have never tried it but you could check out the link provided by Chris87. |
