Nice shot, a lot of clarity with the fly.

Thank you both. I had been waiting for a moment of stillness for about a half hour. It finally happened and I got my shot.

Caine, Welcome

You certainly would get high marks for patience, the photographer's most underrated skill.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm not a terribly patient person, but I am stubborn. Since I discovered photography last May I've found there's little I won't do to get a shot I want. Photography is the best hunting, I love it.

Like the title. For whatever reason, it made me think of an insect under the influence of controlled substances -- instead of "Bumblebee on crack" we get "Hoverfly on marjoram."

A difficult pic to take...
I agree patience is an important virtue for a photographer.

Considering you used an S50. It's a good pic...but a better one was possible with better cameras..

Thanks, Elay. Marjoram is a spice, maybe it does more than taste good. ;D

Akshatrathi, I'd love a Nikon D80, but I'm afraid that's not in the cards as of now. I do what I can with my S50 and L1 and I get pretty good results from them.

Perhpas true, but I think too often we all get caught up in the gear and forget that the goal is to make great images. I know I thought that if I took great photos with my Canon SD800 (there were a few) then I was sure to take spectacular photos with my shiny new D80. Not true! I wouldn't trade my D80 for anything, but sometimes I miss using my point and shoot for the simplicity it brings and the way it shifts the focus back to photography basics. Just my very humble opinion.

(Of course, I write this after drooling over the thread about the upcoming D3!)
