Palachandra,

The low angle is good for mushrooms and other small plants. Top is very good. It's that stalk that could use a little reflected light. A touch more detail under the cap would help the overall look. And I don't know what to say about so many crops that cut off parts of a subject. It's a choice that can give a good close look at certain subjects, but used rarely, and not on specific subjcts that would benefit from a fully-in-frame shot. This one would look better full-frame.

Default JC Challenge

JiminyC,
If nothing else, I see your comments as a challenge to "change this using JC's suggestion." Makes for some interesting photoshop "assignments."
LOL

odark30,

First thought, almost always, is how would this look if the camera settings, or angle, or metering, or framing had been different? The comments start there and if possible or necessary an edit may follow. Your edit simulates a photo with the metering more accurate, saving the cap and detailing the stem. Good example.

JC,

Thank you for pointing out that. Reflector is the new thing I could learn. I never thought of using one before! I saw many of the photographers using thermocol as reflector and some metal surface while shooting films. I carry only camera, set of extra battery and sometimes tripod with me while shooting. Do you have any suggetion on using reflector?

odark30,

Thanks for the demo on how could I have improved that.

Living in a tropical country where the sun is often harsh, i keep two sun screens/shades in my car - one is the silver reflector type, and the other is white...both can serve as very good "emergency" reflectors...the silver one of course will give a stronger and/or harsher light, while the white can give you softer diffused light...
