I don't know if it is the arguably crappy monitor I have at the office (yea, I know i should be working), but it looks a little dark to the point where I couldn't really see the bolt that well. Otherwise I do like the texture of the wood grain.

MMm, so how would I lighten up the bolt without losing the texture of the wood? I took an other pic of it with a slower shutter speed, but to me it just looked too bright. Any advice would be sooo appreciated.

I am no expert but it might be easier to darken a lighter shot than to lighten a dark shot using photoshop. You can also mask off areas and tinker with it that way, but again I am not a photoshop expert. Otherwise, take a series of pictures using different shutter speed until you get one that is balanced. Again, it could also be my crummy monitor at the office. Definitely get a second opinion!

GenOrnsby, Welcome

Have a look at the rules for Critique posting. Here in Macro Photography, the information is less critical, but you still need to add more information. If you want members to comment on your wok, you need to add more information and questions in either place.

Thanks for understanding.

I also have a crapy monitor so I can't see the bolt either.
I'm not an expert either, but since you're shooting a static scene, maybe you should experiment with the lighting to get a more evenly lit scene, or you could take two (or more) shots of the same scene, one exposed for the wood and the other for the bolt. Then you merge them in Photosop.

Don't know if you re-posted this but does not look too dark at all on my Apple monitor. Very cool image in my opinion.
