Default is this lens OK

I just got my new 60mm macro lens and it was packed poorly. So I'm trying to make sure it's OK. It was dark out so I just took some snaps of my sprouting tomatoes under lights. Do your expert eyes see anything wrong with the lens other than my macro (and RAW) beginner technique?
Thanks!

Camera: Canon Rebel XTi
Lens: Canon 60mm macro
Exposure: 1/6 sec
ISO: 200
F-stop: f/7.10
Exposure Bias Value: -0.33
no flash

Aside from the white balance it looks okay but it's impossible to tell on a shot like this. You've got too many colors, too many variations, and nothing to really establish a norm. There could be a dark spot in the lower right and we'd have no idea. Take another tomorrow when it's light out of something like the side of a nice flat building and then we'll see, but at a glance this looks alright.

Yes, I know it had a rosey cast ( I sort of liked it for myself)
But to really test the lens, let me understand. I should take a shot of a flat surface with few colors and little variation? If that's right, will do!

Well I'm very far from an expert on calibration, but as I understand it you want a nice uniforn surface so you can tell if there are any abnormalities in the lens. You could check out the lens reviews on www.kenrockwell.com, he shoots a big flat white wall to see how bad lens distortion is or if there are dark spots. Just think about what it is you're looking for and you'll have a better idea of how to shoot something that will expose it if it's there.

Anyway, here's hoping you don't find anything.
