I've heard eBay has some cheap-cheap sets without contacts. Personally, I'd be more comfortable buying from B&H or Adorama, and the best set pricewise I've seen are the pro-optics at Adorama, but they're not always in stock. That set is about $90.

If you are going to add extension tubes to a macro lens then you want to work manual. The cheap sets on ebay will work fine, just look at each item listing to pick the best. If you want auto controls then you are going to have to pay the dollars.

If the OP has a Canon EF 100mm macro lens then the cheap set (without electrical connections) won't work fine - the electical contacts are required to control the aperture. The lens will be at max aperture (f/2.8) without them.

Kenko puts out a fine set..B&H...I don't remember the price. Remember..you will get what you pay for...get strong set you are putting your lens on it.

Every lens I have has a ring to control aperture, including all my Canon ones. Maybe the newer ones don't. This means I can manually control from f1.8 - f64 depending on the lens I am using

No lens I own has an aperture lens on it - every lens I own is a newer Canon lens, including the EF 100mm macro USM the OP mentions.

The aperture on EF lenses is controlled by a wheel on the body and communicated electronically to the lens.
