Yeah, I was hoping I could get that too, the viewing port of this kaliedescope is about 1/8 diameter, I spent about 2 hours trying to get the alignment right to get that view and I couldn't do it, the best I got was a couple of double ( mirror) images.

I guess after I was done I looked at them and thought o.k......what's the point ? what do I do with these ? that's why the seemed lame.

This particular kaliedescope is an egg shaped wooden one that sits in a brass stand, I layed it down on its stand and set a flashlight behind it on some towels. I was using my 100mm f2.8 macro with a 25mm extension tube. then I just turned the thing in various directions trying to get a shot right down the middle.
I'm thinking what should have done, and might try this weekend is to punch a hole in some black poster board and set it on a piece of glass with a light underneath, then position my camera over the top of it. I might have a better chance of getting the alignment right that way.

thanks for the comments.

Mike,

Thanks for your feedback. The thing I like about such Forum is that the members are so happy to share 'how they did it. ' Great learning opportunity.
