It's a butterfly
And an incredible close-up of one at that! I had no idea the tongue was textured like that.

Hey Guys

My stepson found this butterfly wounded. He gave it around to all the kids to look at and I shot away. I believe his wings were wounded so he couldn't fly away. We treated him to a piece of orange (that's what you see him standing on).

I used my D200 with the 80-200mm 2.8 lense coupled with 63mm of extension tubes. Because he couldn't fly away (wing damage) and he seemed content on the orange slice, I just shot away. Luckily I got one with his mouth open !

Cheers all, thanks for the comments,

FF
