Default Macro with Extention Tubes

I bought some extention tubes for my Canon XTi and decided to try them out yesterday.
I attached them to my Tamron 75-300 lense. This is one of the pictures I took

I liked the fact that I don't have to get really close to the subject, which is perfect for photographing really ellusive insects.
I still need to learn how to use them properly because many of the pictures came out blurred or focused on the wrong spot.

The range of colors is amazing, to say nothing of the detail. Way to go!

Try different size lenses, each is different. I find the best way of focusing is to move the camera in and out and then fine focus manually.

Again the color is great and the detail to.

Default Fantastic

That's a fantastic shot. Beautiful colors and great detail.

Can you please share more details of the extension tubes. Specs, model, price, where did you buy it etc. I am also tempted to GO FOR IT !!

Chintex, extention tubes are a really cheap alternative to macro lenses. By cheap I mean under $20.00
I bought mine from ebay. Here is a link to one similar to the one I bought.

http://cgi.ebay.com/3-Ring-Macro-Ext...QQcmdZViewItem
(If the link expired just do a search on ebay for extention tube)

You have the choice of selecting the level of macro by using 1, 2, or all 3 rings at once. The more rings you use, the bigger the closed up. The other good thing about using them is that there is not distortion on the picture as the rings don't have any glass in them. You can also use them with different lenses.
It is a little tricky at first, but as someone mentioned before, it is a good idea to just move back or closer from the subject the do the fine focusing manually.
I think for under $20 is more than worth it. Go for it and post some pictures here!

I just bought a PK-3 extension to use with my D40 and I'm loving it.
