Default help to make shots from Rx images (radiology)

Hello,

I am a newbye in digital photography. I have read some scientifc papers about using digital cameras to digitize Rx, many of them using 4Mpixels models. Now I have the chance to repeat this experience with newer models. May someone help me with tips? Have someone already done it?

I have been told to buy a Nikon D80 and macro lens. Which macro lens would be better?

Photos may be as small as 6x8cm (tomography slices) as well large as a traditional torax RX. The worse part would be (I think) to solve the light problem. Will have to make a reliable light table to iluminate the RX-film from behind.

Any tips are welcomed.

Thanks.

Saulo

I've never done anything quite like that but I suggest taking some time to get to grips with your camera in a number of situations. Not all of them might have direct bearing on the spe******ed situation you are talking about but the increased familiarity and experience should help you working out a good approach to it.

You would probably need a transparent scale of some sort to show real size that could be incorporated into the image you are copying. While you are saving movey for a light box or table perhaps you could obtain a used X-ray viewer or simply tape some white paper on a north facing window (more even lighting), tape your X-ray to the paper and mask woth some black paper. The camera will give you a starting point on exposure and you can build from there.
