claudvic,
In the DPS Blog, this article seems to address much Macro information: http://digital-photography-school.co...sers/#more-204 One way to let your camera teach you, is to take a series of Auto-everything Macro/closeups, and note the settings your camera chooses and the results. This will give you an idea of where to begin when manually setting your camera for Macros. Practice is going to teach you the most. I have a Fuji S3100, and take 90% of my Macros in Sport mode (to reduce motion blur), at between 1/125 and 1/500th sec. (depending on amount of Sun), f/2.8 or f/8 (depending on lighting, and color of subject), and usually use Exposure Compensation to reduce highlight blowout. But your camera has its own best settings, so experiment, practice, see what happens. Example of Fuji shot: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1290/...05619a305a.jpg
