I'm guessing this would count as macro. I'm wondering if the composition was good. I think this is a good shot but some little things you find distracting would be helpful to know. Thanks

Hi Chase! very pretty flower...looks like a daisy of some sort. Your composition is nice too. From everything I heard, true macro photography is when you can see an ant on a flower so close, that you can see it smile....All jokes aside, go google macro photos and you'll get a better understanding. As a rule, a macro lens is required. Mind you I have taken a few close ups with a 70-200mm lens. Here's a couple examples. Unfortunately, they don't count as macro shots.
Oops! can only download one picture for now. I'm new at this game too. Go check the "Macro photography" thread in this website. You will get the picture! Last edited by mywickedstepmother; 08-25-2008 at 04:31 AM. |

Chase.noye,
We have a relaxed definition of Macro, covering closer closeups too. But I moved your thread from Critique because of these missing elements again: Critique Forum Rules mywickedstepmother, We leave it up to the original poster usually to decide if it's OK to add your photos to their thread. Generally it's better to just comment on their work, offer suggestions. Starting your own thread is easy and gives your work the attention it deserves too. Two people in one thread showing photos gets confusing when comments overlap.

I actually liked the fact of the dead flowers on the side. I thought it added something unique to the picture.

I believe the other 2 blossoms(bottom and bottom/right), are a bit distracting.
