i cropped it slightly, i have no idea how much though, i'm not editing savvy...
my main question is do you like the color scheme or should i toy with it a little? and is the composition ok? i used my tamron lens, 28-300 mm

The colour scheme looks good to me. Nice shot there, phnee. If I have to dig at anything, it would be these:

a) The image looks slightly overexposed as you can see at the wing tips and the outer part of the flower petals. I see from the EXIF on flickr that the exposure was set to 0/2 EV. Was that intentional? Maybe a zero EV or even -0/3 EV would have benefited this image as there seems to be sufficient light.

b) The crop can be a little tigther, as the long bottom part of the image is not adding anything to it. Maybe you can try cropping about an inch or so below the bug.
