Default Centipede on my shoe

I keep saying I need a macro lens. In the meantime, here is a centipede that seems to love my shoes:

Centipede on my shoe

It's funny, but whenever I go out to the garage to collect my shoe, this centipede is resting on it! I hate to disturb the little guy by taking his bed, but I pick up the shoe, and time after time, he scurries away until I bring his favourite resting spot back for him.

Uh huh, I couldn't compose myself to take a picture of it. No amount of stabilizing technology could help.

Well, I've always been partial to wee beasties (check out my website www.sjhfoto.com-I've got a gallery full of 'em!) so it was no problem. Besides, they don't bite or carry disease, so why not let him use my bed...er, shoe?

Besides, it's always good to have a friend that can scare the minds out of cute girls (tee hee)

It is true that they may not carry disease, but they can bite.

From a Clemson University Website "A centipede bite is comparable to a wasp sting in its severity. Although somewhat painful, the bites are generally harmless unless one is allergic to insect venoms." They do go on to say with smaller ones that the jaws may be too weak to penetrate human skin.

Still, I am just not sure I would want to find the little guy IN my shoe instead of ON it one day, but nice capture!!
