Default Irridescent Bee......?

I took this shot early yesterday morning. Does anyone know the real name of this species of bee? Thanks for looking.

I don't know. But that's one WICKED looking bee! I live close top TMI (Three mile island, a nuclear power plant), and I've seen nothing like this!

FocalFrenzy,

From: www.whatsthatbug.com

Metallic Green Bee
(06/25/2008) Agapostemon Texanus?
Hey there! Some internet research pointed to Agapostemon Texanus - does this sound right? I live in Portland, Oregon and have never seen these before. If it is, it looks like their range is nation wide.

This is the third bee with a striped eye I've seen. I'm convinced it's a play of light over the facets. Great irridescent glitter, and detail in fuzz.

Hi all,
thanks for taking the time to look and comment. Jiminy, thanks for the link. That's a very handy site. Do you know how I would go about sending them a picture to post? Thanks, again.
Gary

FocalFrenzy,

I have sent one of the ambush bug from earlier this year, to their email address. They are, I think still in a redesign mode, but it looks like they're answering some correspondence.

If you use flickr there's an "ID Please" group.

Great shot!! The colours in the bee are amazing, i've never seen one like this before and the stripes in its eyes look awsome, i've only ever seen one other pic of a bee with stripey eyes, it could be a reflection of the flower petals caused by a certain light and angle? who knows... well done.

Nice! Now I know what a Pollen Jock (The Bee Movie) looks like in real life.
