Focusing rail
I have a Bogen 3047 tripod, I like Macro! I want to buy the manfratto 454 Micropositioning sliding plate for Macro photography. Does anyone know of this piece of equipment? How do I attach it to my pan & tilt tripod head? How does it work? I know some one out there knows! Help me please! Any ideas!

It fits on the tipod head the same way your camera does (screw hole on the bottom) and then you screw your camera onto the focus rail. Great bit of kit which I wouldn't want to be without...I use it with the 410 geared head.
Aswell as the ability to accurately focus single macro shots you can also use it for focus stacking (try CombineZM if you want to play with focus stacks) and I'm also intending to do some stitched macro panoramics with it by mounting it sideways and sliding the camera along between exposures.
