These are excelent examples of an early stage micro photographer.

Your next step is to work with the backgrounds. Depth of field will allow you to make them less distinct. Point of view will allow you to sometimes eliminate the busy part of a background.

nice work

Default Not much flexibility with a PnS

Point and shoots are ( I feel) not for the ones who are really into photography !! Even I had a Nikon Coolpix since past 4 years. I tried different modes and different angles ,, I've used close up modes.. but not really very good results .... but after buying a D40 ,, things changed,,,I got amazing results.. Even I had to wait for an year and half to save money and finally I bht one.. I wish you good luck and try the Nikon DSLR's ..... they are the best !!

tc
bye

yer, i used to use my fz8 with a raynox adaptor and that made an amazing macro/micro setup.

I agree with Elmo, and the best tips/advice you could have would probibly just to keep shooting what you enjoy and have fun. There are a few things you could do, like change angles, use cards as backgrounds you could even use pegs (for holding up the washing) to hold flowers in place or other flowers out of the way. Juse use your imagination .

Hi Heather,
I am also currently using a Sony DSC-H1 (3-1/2 years old). Since joining this forum, I have purchased a set of "Screw on" macro filters, to use with my camera. They only cost about $32.00 at Cord Camera. With these (and sometimes with only a handheld magnifying glass), I have been able to get some really amazing close up shots. Far better than what I could achieve using only the automatic settings on my Sony. So, don't worry that your camera isn't up to par with the DSLR's, with a little practice and a magnifying glass, you can take wonderful close-ups with your Sony, and enjoy taking shots while you save for your new camera. Good luck, and I hope to see more of your efforts.
