Default B&W or color?

What do you think BW or color?

And another tulip pic just for fun.

I personally like the color better. There doesn't seem to be enough range in the tones in the B&W.

I have to agree, the color version looks better to me.

I also thought the black and white looked kinda flat. I would up the contrast just alittle on the color one.

I think the color picture is best. Maybe you could do some editing to liven up the color of the petals and dull the background a bit more. The black and white accentuates the minute folds and creases in the petals more. Tough call. I'm not the greatest at photoshop, but maybe something could be done to highlight the flower alone in the B/W photo, and maybe do a black background.

I pretty much agree with all the above.

i love the colored version, but if you up the brightness/contrast a bit, the b&w might pop more.

love the collage of tulips. nice shot.

I'll have to agree with everyone else.

Maybe you could make the tulip color, but the background b+w. (they had a video on the DPS Blog the other day about this!)

I think you could probably produce a better black and white conversion - it does look rather dull. My favourite is the third picture though - even the colour version of the single flower does not have that much interest and could probably benefit from being pushed a bit further in post-processing or getting closer in the original shot.

I did the original PP with iPhoto I think or maybe when I had just gotten aperture so I will have to have another go at them now.
