Default Stone face on wood!

One of our friends in Estonia makes stone faces in his spare time - and he sometimes gives some of them as gifts.

As you probably guess I was lucky to get some. And I have for some time tried to take some nice pictures of them. But I have a lot of trouble getting the right background to the stones. This time I tried to use an old piece of wood in my garden.

What do you think of the picture?
I would especially like to hear your opinion on the choice of background (and maybe you could give some advice for other backgrounds I could use)?

Stone face on wood!

Camera: Canon PowerShot S3 IS
Exposure: 1/200s
Aperture: f/2.7
Focal Length: 6 mm
Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV

Hi Bo,
Perhaps you would recieve more comments if this was posted in the critique section. Maybe on of the Moderators will move it for you. The only suggestion I can think of would be to mist the stone with a water bottle. Dampening most stones makes them a little darker and that will help increase the contrast between the stone and its' dry background. Another thing you might try is a lightbox and a dark background. I hope this helps.

It's good. It could be better if you snapped it at a slightly different angle though. That's one of the things that makes Macro photography so interesting to me. The unusual angles, tight close-ups, etc.

The background is good, the dark wood has some good contrast with the light stone.
