Default Strange Marguerite

I took this picture of a marguerite (yes - it is a marguerite) yesterday. It seems to fold the flower pedals in a funny way before it unfolds. The flower is NOT manipulated in any way.

I tried to enhance the flower by removing the green leaves from the picture- giving the flower a black background (ok - a little manipulation).

I used my canon powershot s3is with the following settings:
Exposure: 1/400s, Aperture: f/3.2, ISO: 100 & a exposure Bias of -1/3EV. The bias was used, because of a bright sunshine.

I would like to hear your opinion on the shoot - both the technique and the flower (sorry for not being very specific…).

Spanish Marguerite

good stuff with the Powershot. My mom has one of those. I generally don't like flat dark backgrounds but this is an exception. The darkest parts of the petals make it work.

nice job! very cool flower too. I don't see where you cloned the leaves out, so well done on that too. Black wasn't the original background color? Again, well done!

Cool shot with great lighting, real background or not.

Regarding the background colour - the leaves were quite dark (some places black) - because there were a shadow that covered them and the exposure bias made them even darker. So they weren’t so difficult to remove.

Regarding the marguerite - I was told that it is a Spanish marguerite - so its not so strange to me anymore.
