Default DIY Macro lens with a point and shoot

Just wanted to share these pics of a weed flower from out in the yard.
There are a few attempts at photographing minerals as well.
Just playing around but trying to learn

Awsome! I love macro photography but my camera won't co-operate... what settings are best to use? Where did you get your loupes?

Tanya

ETA my partner has a 10X... how do you hold it to your camera?

I found my loupes at Harbor Freight.

http://search.harborfreight.com/cpis...?keyword=loupe

I first tried holding the loupe to the camera then used scotch tape. I proped a flashlight close to the subject to add enough light. Set the focus to infinity. Turn the flash off. It will reflect back inside the loupe. I used a tabletop tripod. Use the self timer to allow you to get your hands free of the camera to avoid shake. I used a 10X and a 20X that I got somewhere else. That's about it.

Good luck
