Default Nikon 4T Close-up of Dragonfly

I got this shot of a dragonfly while trying out my new Nikon 4T Close-up lens attached to my Panasonic DMC-FZ30 Super Zoom P&S. It took about 17 attempts to get one clear picture. I moved in very slowly in a hunched over position until I was roughly 12 - 14 inches from the dragonfly. I was shooting handheld and the wind was blowing the branch that he/she was sitting on up and down, back and forth. I had my camera zoomed to 420mm (35mm equivalent) which yielded a VERY shallow depth of field. Let's just say there was a lot of luck involved!

Enjoy.

I walked right up to the little guy. I think the whole thing probably took 5 minutes.

That's cool and creepy at the same time! Wow, that's close. If it were me, I'd have spent all this time preparing for the shot and sneaking up on it...and it would have flown away the moment I was about to hit the shutter. Great shot, great luck, great post.

WOW! I took what I thought was a good closeup of a dragonfly too (http://digital-photography-school.co...ostthread&f=45), but after seeing yours... I have to try again! (close is close!) Nice shot!
