Macro with 10mm and reverse ring

Hi
I have a 105mm. Nikkor Macro lens but I am not happy with the amount of its magnification and I am going to try reverse lens method.
I have a 10-24mm wide angle nikkor and I am wondering if I can use this lens for this purpose. Does anyone have any experience using a wide angle lens for revers lens macro photography?
I have also a 24-300 mm Nikkor lens which I was thinking to use it as an extension tube before attaching a reversed 10-24mm lens to my body:
Order of attachment: Body+ 24-300mm + reverse ring+ reversed 10-24mmNikkor

Do you think this work? and if it works do I need the same 77mm reverse ring for attaching 10-24mm and 28-300 together?

What are you taking photos of that requires more than 1:1 magnification?

If thats really the case, the best option may actually be another system: Canon. The MP-E 65mm is quite extraordinary.

I have seen several photos from insects for example which you can even see the eyes of the creature! This super magnification is not attainable by simple micro lenses. Neither Nikkor 105mm nor Canon 65mm can do that. At least I have not seen any pictures taken by a simple macro lens in that order of magnification,
Anyhow, Since it sounds very cheap I want to try it for fun.. Maybe I can take one of those super macro pictures which I am not able to get with my 105mm now.

You're right, the Nikkor 105mm can't do that (and neither can my 100mm) but the Canon 65mm is rather special as macro lenses go as there isn't another one like it.

For many examples of MP-E shots and other spe******ed macro equipment capable of even higher magnifications you might want to check out this site. There's another world of macro lenses beyond "simple micro lenses"
