Hi,
I performed some tests with extension tube... For those tests, I used my 4 lenses with different setting. The lenses are:
I used them alone, with 6 mm extension tube and with 55 mm extension tube. I shot a rule and calculate how millimeters appear on the photo and how far the lens was from the subjet and compare the results... Here's some results... To achieve the maximum magnification the combination is: 1- Sigma 105mm macro with 55mm extension tube (12,8mm visible at 8,8cm from the subject) 2- Nikon 28-80mm with 55mm extension tube (17,2mm visible at 5,5cm from the subject) 3- Sigma 105mm macro with 6mm extension tube (17,7mm visible at 10,2cm from the subject) 4- Nikon 50mm with 55mm extension tube (19mm visible at 5,5cm from the subject) 5- Sigma 105mm macro with no extension tube (23,1mm visible at 12cm from the subject) Surprinsingly, the Sigma 70-300mm macro isn't in the top 5... We have to wait until the 7th position to see it (25,3mm visible) equipped with 55mm extension tube... Not so surprinsingly, the Sigma 105mm macro is on 3 out of 5 position. Equipped or not with extension tube, the magnification is great. I just wanted to share that with you guys ![]() I wish you all a nice day!
