Default Reverse Mount with Nikkor G (Digital Lens)

So I've read a few of the threads and articles here on reverse mounting and "cheap" macro solutions, and I think I've got the idea down, but I want to make sure this is correct.

I have a D40, and 99% of the time I'm using my prime lens (35mm f/1.8G). I want to get into macro photography, but I'm a cheap college student that can't shell out several hundred dollars for a macro lens. I'd like to reverse mount the kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX), and this is how I think I will get it done.

E2 Extension Ring, place at opposite end of lens so that the plunger can force the aperture open.

Fotodiox 52mm Macro Reverse Ring Adapter
Amazon.com: Fotodiox 52mm Filter Thread Lens, Macro Reverse Ring Camera Mount Adapter, for Nikon D1, D2, D3, D3x,D3s, D100, D200, D300, D300s, D700, D40, D40x, D50, D60, D70, D70s, D80, D90, D3000, D3100, D5000, D7000: Camera & Photo

Obviously the order would be...
Camera->Fotodiox->lens->E2

...is this feasible? has anyone had any experience with a similar setup?

Thanks for your help!

I don't think that will work. You will then be shooting wide open all the time, and really have no DOF or you will be totally stopped down.

When I did this and only had G lenses, I went to a pawn shop and bought an old prime lens for $20 that had an aperture ring and got a reversing ring off ebay. Does not matter what the mount of the lens is, because you are mounting it backwards. Just find one with the right filter thread for what ever reversing ring you are buying. I was in business for $25.00 The benefit to, is you have a lens to bang around that you really don't give a crap about, as the rear element is now exposed.
