Default Macro Results With?

Can you get any decent macro results with a 14-42mm or a 40-150mm lens?

It might take a bit of doing, but you can get some nice close-up shots with the kit lenses. I have the E-500 with the 14-45mm kit lens, and even without close up filters, I've gotten some decent results. Like this, for example:

Just a Quick Rest

Here's another one I'm rather proud of, but I won't tell you how close I realized I was to the bee when I finally looked up from the camera.

you can, depending on what you are shooting and providing it will sit still, use a magnifying glass as well. Focusing can be tricky but well worth the effort

If you are just playing with macro and want a quick fix, the Zuiko 35mm f3.5 Macro is a fun lens, and is 200$ (about the only budget lens out there)

Good for macro and for portraits. It does need quite a bit of light and a very steady had for macro (if not a tripod)

Mstee4eva,

Originally, this was the attachment method.

Macro glass

More recently, a quicker, on/off attachment fitting over body lens barrel:
