Default Is this my photography or my camera?

The blur looks like its made of lines, is that something I did or the camera? It only happens occassionally when I take macros....

Without exif I can't say for sure, but I suspect it's an issue of camera/len limits AND software...

Definitely looks like a combination of jpeg compression artifacts and perhaps high ISO noise. Your camera may also have processed the image a bit and added in some of that striping.

Can you give us the EXIF (exposure information, including ISO) and some info about your camera, lens, and software used?

I don't see anything obvious in the exif...

Could be from "odd" resizing during post, that does some weird things sometimes.

Yep looks like high ISO noise but 400 shouldn't have that much noise.

Do you use the macro mode of the camera to shoot macro shots? That could do some in camera editing to the photo?

If it only happens from time to time I'd guess it's the camera. Forum resizing shouldn't cause this but you never know.

I'd try taking a shot multiple times with the same exact settings in same place with same conditions. If some of the photos have this noise problem and some don't then it's highly likely that the problem with with the camera.

Have you lightened the image a lot, I had the same issue a few years back with some landscapes that came out really dark, when the exposure was corrected thats the effect I got.

It looks like what my images sometimes do when I add either fill light in lightroom or push the exposure in lightroom (not in camera) -- what post adjustments did you make?

Looks mostly like ISO noise. Try shooting the same subject on ISO 100, 200, 400, etc. If the noise shows on the images with higher ISO, you have your answer. If it shows in all, then it's a camera and/or software issue.
