Default Obligatory Bee shot :)

Should I crop to make the Bee take up more of the screen?
Any other suggestions?

If you've got the pixels to do so, I say yes. By all means crop it down. Nice Bumble Bee btw.

It looks like the bee is well-focused and there is nothing particulaly noteworthy about the background so I think that cropping down would be worthwhile. I cropped one of my bee pictures earlier this week and was very pleased with the result.

For comparison:

Thumbs up Crop for Focus

Cropping the shot down to focus on the bee would certainly direct the viewers focus where you want it. As stated above, as long as you have the pixels to crop without losing quality you should do so.

I tried a crop as suggested, I left the flower intact good or bad move?
Pixel wise any cropping is marginal as the camera is only 4mp, but it is good practice as I am looking for a new camera.
Thanks all.

Edit: Cropped closer as per Jamesc359 suggestion

I think that's a lot better. It's got a wee bit to much empty space side to side though.

Wise choice to bring th ebee in closer and therefore bigger. The whole point of macro is to capture what you normally wouldnt see with the naked eye. Well done

Since the bee is hanging upside down it is certainly worth leaving a reasonable amount of the flower in to give some context - otherwise it will look very disorientating.

What software are you using to work on your pictures?

psp 9 and or cs3.
Still getting to grips with Cs3 as the last time I used PS was a long long time ago.
Tried one of the newer Adobe elements and hated it, which was a pity as I could get it for free through work.
