How do you get guys like this to cooperate. This dude didn't wnat to help out at all. I see where people get those great macro shots of flies eyes. But how do they do it. This is about as good as I could get with this dude. Advice on how to keep critter from moving would be appreciated.

I'm no expert on scorpions, but, I reckon he'd slow down if you popped him in the fridge for a while

I think most super close up insects are dead when photographed. A plus is that you don't have to worry about a model release.

Aye but the folk that do that are wimps Way more fun photographing live subjects IMHO.

Scorpions don't move very fast from what I've seen but like any other beasties you have to wait for it to be comfortable and settled. If the subject likes hiding out of harms way chances are it won't be relaxed if you try and place it in the middle of a white table.

With spiders I usually place a jar over them and hope they settle down in a few hours. Some subjects won't survive a few hours in such dry conditions though....you have to work fast with those!

Flat rock scorpion close

That one was in a cage...the keeper lifted a rock off it and I get a few quick shots
