Default A red Farrari

I took this picture of my sons red Farrari with my Canon Powershot s3 IS. As you can see it is a bit damaged.

I think I succeed in getting a nice DOF (if I shall say it myself).

I used a large lamp with 3 x 36 W to light the car. The light is not warm/natural - but I don’t think it matters because the car is metal. The background is just a piece of paper.

EXIF: Exposure: 1/100s, aperture: f/2.7 and ISO: 100!

Farrari

I think you did a pretty good job with this, nice dof. Too bad it's not the real thing, LOL!

Very nice job! Have you considered trying to make the shot appear to be of a lifesize car? Using different backgrounds, or even photos you have on hand (landscapes, etc.), could be a fun experiment.

hey, I did something like this with my Canon SD1000, the thing is, you were for sure using the macro setting, right? I really dig this camera even though it's really simple and doesn't have that many settings, but still can pack a punch. Your picture still looks nice, even though it's a bit blurry. Then again, so is mine. What do you think? blackdiamond13 @ Jemsite

I'd have probably aimed for a little more Mid focus. Gone for the sharp spot a lttle further from the front, and with a dark background. The cockpit area wants to be a bit sharper.

I also to focus on the cockpit - but because the cockpit looked quite toy-ish - the photo looked quite artificial - so I went with the front focus!

Now I got my new camera - I wanted to redo the farrari shot! But I can't find the car! My boy probably played with the car - silly boy
But if I find the car - I have to try it with the black background..

I used it as background picture on my work-laptop - and several people thought it was the real thing
