Just loved this delicate but strong looking 'head'.

Spikey head

I think the background colors are rather strong here - the overwhelm the details of the seedhead, which is a little soft to begin with. Think about colour and brightness rather than just throwing the background out of focus.

Also, since this is the macro technique section, tell us a bit more about how you took it and why you chose this particular shot.

Hi,
I think I did explain why I chose the shot??

I didn't 'throw' the background out of focus-the camera is set to 'auto' and then 'super macro' did the rest.
I think the strong colour in the background shows the tiny 'web' caught between the spikes of the flower head.

I agree with wulf...I think the brightness of the background is a little distracting...however, I love the spiderweb and the flower itself is very interesting...it almost looks like spider...legs!

moi, Welcome

Often people on this site photograph a subject for a project, as a part of a collection, for practice, experimenting in Macro, etc. When they tell us why they chose the shot, they describe why they framed it the way they did, why they chose the settings (EXIF) to take it, had the Sun coming from a certain direction, and so on. "Just loved . . ." is OK, it just needs more after it, to be helpful to others. It's a sharing site.

The first reply you got comes from one of the most helpful member/Moderator/photographers on the DPS forum. He uses photographer's term's, like "throwing the background out of focus." If you ask him, he'd probably explain anything you're not sure about.

Until you mentioned the webs, I didn't see them either, because of the overbright and busy background. The webs would actually show better with a muted, darker b/g, as would your spiky bud.

Thanks for the 'extra' clarification. The webs threads are really clear so we can agree to interpret differently.
I posted a 'brief' comment because I wanted feedback-and I got it! )
