Default Rose.

Bought a small bunch of roses today from the market (the wife and daughter picked 'em) with sole intention of doing photography with a rose bloom.

After some playing around I ended up with two images.

The first one has seen some extensive photoshop treatment to give the image a soft dreamlike effect:

The second one was very carefully set up afterwrds, by adding a tiny droplet of water onto a single petal edge - which was specifically focused upon with selective DoF.

I definately prefer this image to the first one btw:

Enjoy.

Paul.

First one doesn't need the foliage-bit messy really.
Second one definitely more effective but there's an image in the drop of water which distracts the eye. Not really sure that the droplet really 'adds' to the picture. beautifully rich colour in the flower.

Beautiful shot! I think you should try it with the water droplet more near the center of the flower so the eye will be drawn near the center only.

I am leaning towards the second one. The drop of water really is amazing and sharp as a tack!
the first seems odd to me..maybe the background im not sure...nice effect but think a white or black or some other color might have worked better.
the two primes are conflicting in my eyes.
Great job on getting out there are planning a shoot for yourself. I gotta start doing this a bit more.

Cheers Pinball.

I like to tinker with filters, hence the bold yet muted colours in the top image.

But I do like clarity if I can hold it, and the second one does have that.
