Default Fungi or Lichen?

It is orange, flattish, and abounds on the soft wooden posts of my (decaying and rotten) gate...

I don't know if it is a fungus or if it is some sort of lichen. The former, I suspect, though which I don't have a scoobies!

I saw this here in the Netherlands too. It looks a bit gelly, but it is a fungus I think. It looks very colourful on wood.

lichen only grow in clean areas, i doubt they would grow on rotting wood. some, or most, fungus feed off decaying organic matter so i'd say fungus.

Cheers folks

It appears the views were right - it is a member of the Dacrymyces family of fungi.
