Hi eyeshrine:
Welcome to the DPS forum!!
I must say flowers are pretty and the colors are amazing. I'm not pro but IMHO I think it lacks a little bit of sharpness and my eyes are just flying around all the photo. In some cases less is more and I think if you can take the shot again focusing on one single flower could make it more appealing. Maybe you can crop it too.
Hoping to see more of your work!!!
Good luck! =)

UPDATE:
The way you have the photo in the banner at your blog site looks pretty great and original!

eyeshrine, Welcome

It's habit-forming: when you see a good Macro of a bloom this pleasing to the eye, you have to have more. The 19 on Flickr do all suggest that finding a way to place a flower in the viewfinder is hit-or-miss. Some are whole, some cut in a number of ways that don't always favor the photo. This will be easy to learn in time. The other concern is a sort of cloudy-day look to most of them. Weather can cause you to add a fill-flash when shooting. Sharpness will be better, too.

On this lovely bloom, if you were to add a gradually darkening shadow from lower center out, the eye would stay on those three segments in focus. Darkening around them would also make them appear brighter. Good shot.

thanks for your reply

@ Oriol, it was difficult to focus on a single flow as the bloom was a series of very small flowers. I see your point about the viewers flying around and the need for more sharpness. So far it's my favourite shot, so thats why I incorporated it in teh header of my site

@ Jiminy, Great tips, I can tell you are experienced and profficient in photography. I will be posting more shots in the future

At first I thought it was the same flower I shot while on my honeymoon... so I had to go look it up... it's not. But it's close.

One of the first things I learned from this forum is to pay attention to details in your pictures. Notic ethe bright spots above the flowers? Well they should not be there as they distract fromt he flowers. If you can, they can be easily removed in post processing.
You might also want to include the settings you had your camera on when you shoot. This can help others in offering suggestions for improving your shots.
Beautiful flowers and am looking forward to seeing more from you!
