Hi !
I'm new, this is the first pic i post in the critique section
i took this a couple of months ago

since i'm really into photography
i hope to improve with all your feedback and critique

i love macro photography
i took this with my 18-55 canon lens

what do you think of the lightning?
Background?
Focus?
Exposure?
Composition?

i'd also like some tips to make my photos sharper
because most of them seem a bit soft..

thanks!!

Your dof is great but I would probably take another angle to make it more interesting. Its rare when placing an image right in the middle of your frame that it will turn out interesting.
Use the rule of thirds to place your photos within the frame. (if you need help with that let me know)
I always end my images with applying an usnharp mask to them. Usually with a radius of 2 and the amount will vary depending on the look I want. This will help your images be crisper

The color and lighting are okay. This is a pretty neat photo. Adding more sharpness would make this a whole lot better.

Cheers!

Your colors are great. I would change your angle just a little to the right then you would have 3 flowers instead of the one competing for space behind the other. Hope that makes sense.

I love lavender so I've taken lots a lot like these! I think it would be better to use the "rule of thirds" and not have the flower in the middle of the photo. The best photos I have like this are where I have other lavenders's blurred in the background - so it is a purplish background, not all green as you have. But then that's my opinion.
