strange flower

noticed this strage flower during my recent visit to coorg,india. Was trying to photograph flowers in my resort when i came across this strange looking flower. With whatever skills i had, i captured it.

camera - Nikon P90 with macro mode on..i know it's not a DSLR..i wish i had one.

Any suggestions to improve the shot are most welcome. Pls. feel free to critique it.

my late mother used to call this flower pompoms but i'm not sure it is the correct name. we have one planted near the gate.
i like your shot though a little bit yellowish on my computer.
