Default Cars DoF

I don't know if this technically is a macro, but it was the best category I could think to put this photo in.

This is the first time I have tried to take an intentional DoF photo. I think it came out fairly nice, any feedback on how I could have improved this?

Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/5.0
Focal Length: 146 mm

Default Composition?

By no means do I know anything, but here goes

* Impressive DOF @ f/5, the decal on the red car looks quite sharp.
* To me, the composition seems a little loose. I really like lines to guide me through a photo, I was struggling to find any.
* Perhaps kill the on board flash and find another light source.
* The reflection from the red car is nice. I wonder how it would have looked if they were lined up on a mirror instead of the polished boards? That might be an interesting effect and might also throw some unusual light around.

Nice work.

That's my first ever critique! Ahhhh, so stressful!

I just put up my first shot for critique also, feel free to throw in an opinion here

Cheers - Dan

Thank you for the critique Dan.

These cars were all setup by my 3 year old son and for the most part I tied to leave them how he had them. I did have to move the piece of furniture a bit so I could get the angle I got (with 150mm zoom I had to keep backing up against the wall) and I had to move the police car out of the way.

I never really thought about trying to capture lines to draw the viewer into the picture, but next time I take a similar photo it will give me something to remember during composition.

I did have all the lights on in the area to try and brighten this up a lot but it still wasn't enough (the furniture this was on is behind the couch so a lot of light is blocked). I do not have anything but an on board flash, but might be something I invest in soon as I learn more about photography.

Good job on your first critique and thank you!

I looked at your image, pretty nice one, but I have a hard time finding things to comment about on other's photos. :-/

Anybody else have any input on this image?
