So Macro photography is completely new to me. Truly out of my comfort zone. I guess which is nice for a change. So I received a Macro lens for Christmas and has developed a love hate relationship with it I am looking for some feedback on this shot. thank you.

Camera: Olympus E-500
Exposure: 0.025 sec (1/40)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 35 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0 EV

Neat shot. However I would like to see some of the "dead space" cropped off, especially at the bottom. Also, I think it would be better if the top pin was either not in the picture or was completely in-focus as it looks a bit odd the way it is now.

The picture is very good, although I agree with Lightwriter about cropping it.

I don't mind the negative space (I even like it), but I'd like to see the focus be more on the pins than on the string... BUT... that's quite possible because of your title. It makes me think that the pins should be the main subject. Good subject, good composition. I'd just play with where the focus is. And maybe take another shot focusing on the texture of the string / rope (maybe without the pins), because that really does look cool.
