I have seen some fantastic macro shots and I really wanted to try my hand at it, after getting a tripod and looking over some of the tips on here i decided to try my hand at it. I produced two shots that I don't entirely hate. One of them is a bit dark and I didn't like it as much as this one. This one I really like because the object I used I actually really enjoy just looking at. Its a ribbon my mother uses as decoration during this time of year, so I decided to get right up in it and take some shots of it. Now other then a general critique as to how the shot looks and all I would love to hear your ideas on macro cause I have seen many macro shots were the entire object is shown but at the same time I have seen photos were there are only bits of the object showing. So does this actually qualify as macro? What do you think of this shot?

I'd like to see the snow flake more prominent. As it is, its hard to tell what is your main subject.
The hard part of doing macros when you have a lot of surrounding entities is the depth of field.Without knowing your exif tho its hard to say what you could have done differently
