Question White flower lost its details.. :(

Hello fellas,

I have this close up shot of a white flower that I took just now in my garden. It's a bright sunny day today here and I have only tried shooting outside in daylight a couple of times. I took a picture of this flower and when I viewed it on my computer, it seems so white that I can't make out most of the flower's details.

This is the photo -->

Kindly point out what I did wrong and if there's something I can do to the photo post processing to bring out the details... or do I have to shoot again using different settings? Thanks!

Camera: Nikon D3000
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5 - 5.6G VR
Exposure: 1/50 sec at f/5.6
Focal Length: 55mm
ISO Speed Rating: 100
Flash: Did not fire

I don't think you can pull much back in post processing with this one. I would start by underexposing the picture or, rather, changing the settings so that the subject (the white flower) is well exposed. You could use a faster shutter speed (which would help what appears to be a touch of camera shake blur) and / or use a smaller aperture.

Bright flowers are tough. Probably best to spot meter on the white and maybe use some fill flash for the green.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Unfortunately the flowers aren't there anymore. So I guess I'll have to wait until they bloom again.

Hi guys!

I had my second attempt at this white flower again. I think I got it right this time.

You can see the details on the flower this time. So what do you guys think?
Thanks!

Yep - the exposure on the flower seems just right.
