Smile Blueberry Muffin

This is my first try at food Photography. Not sure if I should focus at the center of the muffin or get the edges and center in focus all together. Critique please. Suggestions?

You need to post the EXIF info from your camera:

In your Picasa web album you can get his by clicking on More Info on the side bar.

I copied this from your album.

ISO: 100
Exposure: 1/15 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Focal Length: 45mm
Flash Used: Yes

As for the shot itself, the focus looks good to me but it appears that there are some crumbs or a broken spot of the crust at the bottom front. You might try rotating slightly to get a more "perfect" muffin shot.

Try both and see how they look. For me, the DOF is too shallow. I'd like to get more of the texture of the muffin (the part below the muffin top) in focus. I really like the one blueberry that's dripping down and how you've caught some glint off the sugar on top. And the colors are tasty

yeah it doesnt look totally in focus and i bet the texture would totally add in to the image, maybe also if you zoomed out and gave a hint of some of the crumbs or something too

Maybe try a few different angles? If you have a few you can set in a row or an arrangement, the DOF might work to your advantage, but in this shot it might be better to let the viewer see the whole muffin

It's a great looking muffin (time for morning tea for me )

For me the crop is too tight, I'd prefer to see it given a bit more space and off centred a little. As for DoF, I'd like to see the whole muffin in focus.

Your muffin looks a bit lonely too, perhaps it would like a partner?

TFS.
