Processor & Screws : Up Close

The above too shots are shot indoors. The first one was taken under a milky tubelight while the second was taken from light coming off a small LED lamp. What do you think of the exposure? Is it right? I didn't use camera flash. Should I change the positioning of the lightning?

Hi Gaurav.

In my opinion, only a part of the subject that's actually in focus is nicely lit. The other part is in shadows without details. Unless you intentionally wants the eyes to be drawn only to the chrome area, better ad some lights from the right of the frame.

How can I bring another light? I don't own a DSLR with external flash. A torch light or something?

It would be nice to be able to see the head of the one screw that is in deep shadow. Adding another light(like the small LED light you said you used) on the right side, but a bit farther away would help.

I like the shadows, but I think it needs just a bit of light to give some definition to the dark side of the screws.

try shooting near an open window to get more light and you can also use a peice of white card to reflect some light back into the shadows. You could also use a peice of black plexiglas as the base instead of the wooden table. This would give you a cool reflection. The example below uses white plastic to give a reflection but you get the idea. It might add a bit more drama to the shot and lighten the scene
