Default Beyond the lifeless rusty old chain. An oasis.

This chain has been hanging for only God knows how long on the palings of the sheepyards on the volcanic western plains of Victoria. Beyond the lifelessness lies a window of green from the spring break.

Ideas?

The eye is always naturally drawn to brighter areas. So, with that being said the chain is no longer the focal point but the area between the fence is.
Maybe change your angle that you are shooting and have the chain at the end of the fence post to get ride of the bright area.
It also seems that the fence post is a bit more in focus than the chain is.
Love photos like this, all in all its a nice job

Yep I can see what you mean, it's almost like the chain kind-of gets pushed to the side of what you're looking at and takes the back seat....

Windrider is right. When I first saw the picture it was a bit confusing to look at since my eye was drawn right to the grass. I love the color and lighting on the chain though. Especially the small shadow behind it. There is definite potential in the shot. Get a different angle or crop on it, and you'll have a very nice piece. Good job.
