What was the lighting? You've got colours that could be warm (red, yellow and white) but the light appears to be blue-tinted.

I think a greater depth of field would also help. Since there is no particular point of interest that benefits from the focus, it would be better to have a deeper DoF and make more of the texture of the petals.

Thanks for the useful feedback.

The lighting was natural, ambient sun light, but I can't remember if a object close to poppies might have reflected a bluish tint. Must say, the redish colour of the poppies do lean towards a colder red.

Great tip about the depth of field, will keep that in mind next time I try something similar.

Nice photo. The suggestion I have is that I think I would have made one of the poppies such as the red one the main point of focus ie show us all the red poppy and place it according to the Rule of Thirds - and then have the other poppies as background.

The focal point for me is dead center where the ends of the petals converge. While interesting, I agree that making a single flower the focal point and having the rest as a nice Bokeh affect.

I like the color, and the texture, but there is no real focal point. I think it would make a great background image, but could definately benefit from some re-composition.
