Default somewhere around a lake

Please give me your opinion and advice about composition and issues in this photo.
I was drown to spiders position on a blade of grass and its orange color. Photo is cropped only. Does it need to be cropped differently for better composition?
Thank you for your time and effort.

The other lens that came with your camera will produce better close ups for you. The one you used is realy great for landscapes tho.
I would probably try cropping this into a square. Try it and see what you think

I am a beginner, so this critique is what it is. Is your focus, the blades of grass or the spider. If it is the spider, make him more up close. If the focus is the blades of grass, I love the picture. I like the picture either way.

Tried, here it is...It seems better..

To canyongirl28

My focus was spider, but as windrider86 said, I need another lens for better macro shots.

Looks much better with just that crop!
Another lil trick you can try is use a magnifying glass and focus thru that. Can be a lil tricky tho

Magnifying glass, really!? thanks for the trick! I'll try that, but it doesn't seem to be easy...hope I'll cope with it!

Hang in there. It all gets easier with time. You'll find all kinds of tricks that seem strange at first but you'll be amazed at the things one will do to get "the shot"

Default colour boost

I agree the spider doesn't really pop...maybe boost the colour or contrast a bit?
