Default Baghdad Dragonfly

Hello all,

My second critique submission, first is in the nature section. Shot using my Canon Powershot A590IS. I shot in Aperture priority and Macro on the focus. Here is the info from the exif data:

Shutter speed: 1/1244
Aperture: F/2.6
Focal length: 6 mm
ISO: 100

Here is the picture and then I'll put my questions below it.

My main concern is the sky washout, which had the side effect of making it basically impossible to see his wings. Unfortunately I couldnt change where I was so I was forced to accept the sunlight as is. What could I have done to compensate?

Oh for post processing I adjusted the color levels, contrast, and ran unsharp mask to bring out some more detail on the dragonfly.

I don't know if you could have done anything to compensate if that's the only angle you could get on the wings. But honestly, I didn't even notice the wings were missing until I read what you said - it's a very cool capture. The dragonfly looks like an alien, and I love the detail on its face and legs.
