A bridge too near

I am working on macro shots and wondered if the shadows distracted or enhanced this photo:

Hi! I really like the concept, and please keep in mind I am no expert on composition - I usually ask for help! But here are my two cents, for what they're worth. I hope you don't mind, but I downloaded the photo and straightened it in photoshop. I'm not sure the shadows are the problem, but they highlighted the the angle was slightly off. Also, I find myself really wishing the white things (sorry to be so untechnical!) were coming up above the bridge, creating more dimension. So I guess that would be a shooting angle issue. I definately think you should play around with this shot more, I think it has huge potential.
