The DOF should have been restricted to the berries zoomed in, that would have made the photograph look a lot better

Not bad for a basic camera. I think it would look better if the highlights (sky) wasn't so blown and if you added more contrast/saturation to the subject (berries). I agree with KazeFox the background is not very interesting and distracting so blurring the background either with in camera if possible or post-processing.
But overall decent shot for a basic camera, keep it up. Every shot leads to a better photo.

DoF = Depth of field. Which is basically how much of the scene is in focus.

Nice thing about little cheap cameras is that the lens is usually F/22 or something close to that so every thing comes out in focus no matter what you do. Problem with them is every thing you do looks a little off...

If the berries are still there, try getting a milk crate or step stool, and stand on it. Take the same shot, but from an elevated POV (point of view). That will put the darker vegetation in the background, and eliminate the over-exposed sky. That will naturally increase the contrast, and bring out even more intensity in the red.

If you can't get something to stand on, raise the camera over your head and shoot down. Since you won't be able to compose the shot carefully that way, move your arms into different positions and shoot a dozen shots. It's likely that one of them will have the desired effect.

Great picture, lovely color. If I were to suggest something, I think it would've added more drama if you framed the berries off-center.
